I donโ€™t Search information as often on Google as I used to.

My first preference is ChatGPT and next is Gemini.

But then lack of depth in the information and missing sources was a bugging problem.

I was on the lookout for something which was more accurate with information and source.

Something that didnโ€™t hallucinate.

But is that even possible?

Perplexity AI claims to have ๐’๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก-๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐œ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง.

โ€œPerplexity AI is primarily designed as a search engine that utilizes advanced AI to gather and summarize information from the web in ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฅ-๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž. It promised what I wanted but could it deliver?

I still gave it a try.

It was straight forward request. I was expecting it to browse the web, extract quotes and answer them with source.

Hereโ€™s what I got:

๐Ÿ‘Ž It forgot to give links to the sources in the first attempt. I thought it was a default setting.

๐Ÿ‘Ž Then it gave me 5 quotes which were quite off topic.

๐Ÿ‘Ž Although the links and the information was quite accurate in 4/5, it hallucinated in the 5th.

๐Ÿ‘Ž It missed a critical report on the topic from a top consulting firm available on Google search.

๐Ÿ‘ The only silver lining was that it gave me link to a resource which gave some useful information on the topic which was different from what I was looking in the conversation.

All in all, they are solving a big problem and fighting Goliath (read Google).

I wish them luck.
