I am gifting myself a website on my 42nd birthday. Here’s the story.
I hate talking about myself.
It makes me nervous, self-conscious and sound a little pompous.
But then why do I have a personal website and why do I write regularly on social media especially on LinkedIn?
It’s because I want to communicate.
If last 4 years in Sales and Marketing has taught me anything, it is the power of communication.
Spoken or written words have the power to inform, enlighten and transform the world. Everyone has something unique and special to share with this world.
I want to share my POV. (Point of View)
Readers may agree or disagree with me but at least they know what I think about the topic.
I built my personal website during COVID19.
Most people opened a trading account, but I built a website.
And then life happened.
Although I tried to be consistent in sharing my thoughts on LinkedIn, the website took a backseat.
Like an abandoned child, it got lost in some remote corner of the internet.
But lately I realized that since I am already putting out content on LinkedIn, why not share it with the whole wide world on my website.
Why remain slave to the algorithm.
So, the first thing I did was get technical SEO fixed so that it gets discovered on Google.
Second, I hired a website developer to fix the look and feel of the pages and make it more user friendly.
Communication has changed. It has become digital with the potential to reach wider audience.
Your audience could be in any part of the world.
They would love to hear from you because they identify with you.
Even though I hardly posted 10 times after the initial burst of enthusiasm, I received several well-meaning comments that encouraged me to become more organized and consistent.
I love to read. This website gives me a reason to write.
I hope to share long form content here so if you wish to see my posts in your inbox then drop your email id in Followit box on my website to receive instant updates.
