Edtech Ads

Microsoft laying off jobs faster than desi Edtech filling them

Microsoft laying off 7000 people is neither new nor rare. Other large organizations are doing it too.

The logic is simple. Show improved productivity and therefore appear lucrative to investors.

I am neither for nor against it but what I find interesting is the way EdTech ads are promising jobs at the same companies which are laying off in bulk.

It’s like offering a sweater to someone in the middle of summer.

But if I put my Marketing Hat on, I realize 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘡𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘒𝘳𝘦 π˜₯𝘰π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘒𝘡 𝘡𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘒𝘳𝘦 π˜₯𝘰π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨.

These ads are not selling results. They are selling an emotion.

The emotion of

↳ Familiarity
↳ Desirability
↳ Job Security
↳ Prosperity

In an ideal world where jobs will either get automated or eliminated, the courses should be selling

↳ Autonomy
↳ Creativity
↳ Mastery

Things that AI is yet to master. What do you think?
