Content to long

“Your content is too long.”

“Your content is too long.”

This is one of the feedback that I get when I post on LinkedIn.

I accept the feedback with all humility but in this post I would like to present my case.

Let me explain. But before that here’s some stats from the internet.

Instagram reel is 90s long and average Youtube video is 11.7 minutes long with some extending to more than 3 hours.

Both have 2.5 billion+ users.

This means there are enough and more consumers of both long and short form content.

Coming back to the topic.

The friendly feedback about the length of some of my posts could mean either of the following.

👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏾They are not the intended readers of my posts. They just happen to be in my network.

🥱My content is too boring. Not that anybody has said this to my face.🙏

I would like to believe in the first because most of comments on the lengthy aspect come from friends who have very little to do with Marketing or Technology or both.

Even if they do, they have very little time ⌚ to go into the depth of the topic and hence the perception.

As far as the “boring” aspect is concerned, I am on a learning curve and trying to become as interesting, educational and informative as possible.

On the other hand, I am happy that I am getting engagement even if it is cursory in some cases.

• I write to learn.
• I write express my myself.
• I write because I want to share.
• I write because I get paid to do it.
• I write because there is no obligation for me to write and users to read.
• I write because I got decent marks for writing and somehow I got identified with it.

Someday when I am good enough, I might even write to teach. Do you love writing? If you do then let me know, I would love to read.
